Case study · E-commerce ad creative agency
We booked AdCrunch 39 sales calls with e‑commerce brands.
AdCrunch makes ad creative and landing pages for DTC brands. They'd never run cold email before. We set it up from scratch, made the offer bigger each time and turned up the volume once it was clearly working. They now get 6 to 8 sales calls a week.
Brands that said yes
Three of the replies AdCrunch got. Names and emails are blurred.
Before and after
Before Synteria
- New clients came from referrals and meeting people in person. There was no sales team.
- They'd tried paid ads, ghostwriting and posting content. Ads brought in a few leads, but it was a lot of work.
- They'd never sent a cold email and were worried about their domain.
- Client work always came first, so finding new clients kept getting pushed back.
Now
- 39 sales calls with founders and senior people at e-commerce brands.
- 6 to 8 calls a week, and the founders aren't prospecting.
- 25 domains and 75 inboxes, all owned by AdCrunch, sending about 1,100 emails a day.
- Their offer is now 10 free ads and a landing page, which they walk through on the call.
How the offer changed
Each time, we gave brands more free work up front.
A free video breakdown
A recorded review of the brand's ads and landing page.
3 free ads and copy
We also tested chiropractors, then put the volume behind e-commerce brands with bigger budgets.
5 free ads
We added fashion and CPG brands, and set up 27 more inboxes.
10 free ads and a landing page
For brands doing $1M+. Once the new inboxes were ready, daily sending went up to about 1,100.
Bars show interested leads in our follow-up queue at each point.
What made it work
A bigger free offer
About half the brands that engaged with the 10-ad offer booked a call within two weeks. On the 3 and 5-ad offers it was 29 to 36%.
Fast replies
When we answered within an hour, 38% booked. After an hour it dropped to 10.5%.
Following up about the work
Most bookings took more than one message. Follow-ups about the actual ads did better than a plain check-in.
Focusing on $1M+ brands
We tested chiropractors alongside e-commerce. E-commerce brands had the budget, so the free ads now go to brands doing $1M+.
More volume
We added 27 inboxes in month 3 and raised daily sending once they'd warmed up.
They only had to take the calls
We handled every reply, follow-up and booking, and rang leads who stopped replying. Later on, AdCrunch's CMO took the calls.
Questions AdCrunch had at the start
Will this work for e-commerce?
They'd only ever found e-commerce clients in person. The first calls were booked about five weeks after launch.
Will it hurt our domain?
Nothing went out from their main domain. We used separate domains, warmed them up for three weeks and ramped up step by step. AdCrunch owns all of them.
Will the leads be any good?
We tested chiropractors and e-commerce side by side, then focused on $1M+ brands with the budget for AdCrunch.
Do we pay before we've seen the leads?
No. Andrew wanted to see lead quality first, so we started on performance terms and went through the early meetings together. Within three months he asked us to do more.
Do we have time for this?
We handled every reply, follow-up and booking from day one, and rang leads who stopped replying. AdCrunch built the free ads and took the sales calls.
